SURFS UP IN BONDI.

May 12, 2019

First impressions are very important, and I am happy to say that Bondi Beach didn't disappoint in the slightest. From the moment the car turned around the bend in the road and exposed her in all her glory, I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. Another perfect example of a metropolitan city with heavy coastal vibes. Definitely my style in so many ways. The effective juxtaposition of old and new, clean lines and a monochromatic colour palette made me feel right at home. Apart from the gorgeous beach and the infamous modern Iceburgs pool which is perfectly nested into the rocks, I noticed the amount of people exercising. I guess that's a given when you live near the ocean, everyone is half naked most of the time. Unfortunately for me and my busted knee, I couldn't participate in the many activities that I had envisioned doing. I made due with my resistance bands and body weight exercises. Now I just need to deepen my tan a little more then I'll blend right in and look like a true Aussie surfer!

With that being said, my time in Bondi was mostly overcast and surprisingly cool. But that obviously didn't stop me from getting out there and exploring. I filled my time browsing the little boutiques, venturing to and around the junction and enjoying cups of coffee at any cafe possible. When the sun did come out, I made the most of it and lazed on some of the many beautiful beaches that Sydney has to offer.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the surfers navigate the impressive waves rolling into the shore. Even though I have no idea how to surf, I did experience some major FOMO. Maybe that's something I need to look into when I go back home so I'll be surf ready next time I hit the beach. I guess the first step would be to buy a surfboard and display it against the wall until that time comes.
